The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) was established to oversee the governance of urban planning and transportation sectors within the three regional municipalities of the capital Emirate of the UAE. Its primary objective is to uphold standards of safety, security, sustainability, and technological advancements across land, air, and maritime transportation networks in Abu Dhabi, in accordance with both international benchmarks and UAE regulations. As the governmental body entrusted with fostering the growth and urban progress of Abu Dhabi, DMT is tasked with guiding, regulating, and monitoring urban development endeavors. DMT APPROVAL

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) holds authority over urban planning and transportation sectors, as well as regulatory oversight of the engineering and construction industry in Abu Dhabi. It encompasses three subsidiary regulatory bodies: The Municipality overseeing Abu Dhabi City, the Municipality governing Al Ain City, and the Municipality responsible for Al Dhafra Region.

Within its jurisdiction, the department mandates the building and construction sector to oversee the preparation, development, and execution of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System by relevant entities. Additionally, it monitors these entities' adherence to the requirements outlined in the general framework of the Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health System, ensuring compliance.
